How to Play

Play Daily Sudoku online for free. Daily Sudoku lets you play the classic logic puzzle game online or in print with fresh puzzles available daily. Place numerals 1 through 9 in every empty cell on a 9 x 9 grid. The numbers can appear only once in every row, column, and box. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

On the welcome screen, select a difficulty level and grid size to begin.

- Harder game modes have fewer givens, while easier game modes have more givens.
- Select Help to read the game’s instructions.
- Select Print Today’s Sudoku to create a hard copy of the day’s puzzle.
- Change the game’s language through the drop-down list on the bottom left corner of the screen.

      - With your mouse:
        Left click on a cell to select it.
        Left click on a number from the number pad to place in your “candidate” answer.
        Left click on the same number twice to finalize your answer.
        Left click on the number thrice to remove it.
        With your keyboard
        Once you’ve selected a cell, type in your answer.
        Type in the answer twice to finalize it.
        Use the backspace or delete keys to clear the cell.
        Touchscreen devices
        With your fingers:
        Tap on the cell to select it.
        Tap on the number from the number pad to place in your candidate answer.
        Tap on the same number twice to finalize it.
        Tap on it thrice to clear the cell.
        Controls & indicators
        The game’s indicators are located on the left side of the screen. From the top, these are as follows:
        The game’s logo
        The on-screen number pad
        The present date
        The timer
        The first row of buttons, from left to right:
        Pause button: Momentarily stops the game’s timer.
        Reset button: Returns everything to the way it was when you began
        Query button: Checks if your answers are correct.
        The second row of buttons, from left to right:
        Music button: Toggles the game’s music
        Sound effects button: Toggles the game’s audio cues.
        Enlarge button: Lets you switch between windowed and full screen modes
        Game Play
        Generating puzzles
        The game generates a different puzzle for every day of the year.
        You can choose up to 365 to 366 different puzzles for each difficulty level.
        You can play again by choosing the puzzle of a different day on the calendar or by selecting next on the winning screen.
        Objectives
        Your goal is to fill the entire 9 x 9 grid with the numbers 1 to 9.
        No number should repeat in any row, column, or square.
        You start the game with a few given numbers, which will act as clues for the location of the other numbers
        The harder your difficulty level, the fewer numbers you start with.
        Input
        Select a cell to make it active. You can only place in answers in an active cell.
        You can place in candidate (guess) answers before placing in your final answer.
        Candidate numbers are small. You can have several of them at once.
        As you eliminate guesses, you can remove candidate numbers until you have one left.
        To remove candidates, clear the cell and add in the remaining candidate answers.
        If you only have a single candidate left, select that same number again to make it your final answer
